Sky Deutschland expands partnership with WSC Sports to enhance broadcasts

January 13 – Sky Deutschland has deepened its use of automated content production after renewing and expanding its partnership with WSC Sports, extending the deal by a further two years and widening its scope into Austria.

The agreement keeps in place the AI-driven workflow that underpins much of Sky Sport’s digital output in Germany, while formally bringing Sky Austria into the same operational framework. For Sky, the focus is less on experimentation and more on scale: producing more short-form content and distributing it across an increasingly fragmented set of platforms.

WSC Sports’ technology is already embedded in Sky’s day-to-day digital operations – automatically generating match clips, highlights and graphics that can be packaged by player, team or moment and published ‘almost immediately’ after they occur. The renewed deal expands that automation across Sky’s owned and operated channels, including social media, mobile apps, websites and OTT services.

From a commercial perspective, automation is also being used to grow digital inventory. The system allows sponsorship and branding elements to be inserted directly into video output at scale, creating repeatable formats that can be sold across multiple competitions and markets without additional manual production.

The extension also includes early-stage testing of generative AI tools, although Sky appears cautious in how they position this phase. Rather than a wholesale shift, the emphasis is on improving turnaround times, creative flexibility and internal workflows, particularly around live and near-live output.

The partnership now spans all major Sky Sport digital environments, with both parties aligned around a familiar set of objectives: producing more content, in more formats, at lower marginal cost, while keeping pace with how fans consume sport in short-form and on-demand contexts.

“WSC Sports gives us the scale and flexibility to deliver relevant, engaging content to fans across Germany and Austria,” said Alessandro Reitano, Senior Vice President Sports Production, Sky Deutschland. “We’re excited to extend this partnership and explore the next chapter of content innovation.”

“Sky Sport is one of the most respected brands in European sports media, and their commitment to using technology to better serve fans is unmatched,” said Aviv Arnon, Co-Founder and Chief Business Development Officer at WSC Sports. “This renewal and expansion are a testament to our shared vision for smarter, faster, and more engaging content.”
