UEFA releases Women’s Euro 2025 technical report

October 1 – UEFA has released its technical review of the Women’s EURO 2025. The tournament has already provided record data off the pitch from attendance to broadcast coverage. The technical report provides data that shows that new standards are being set on it as well.

Members of UEFA’s Technical Observer Group assessed the matches from a coaching perspective, identifying key tactical themes for further analysis. They were supported by the UEFA performance analysis unit in Nyon. As well as providing live technical and tactical data, they had access to multiple camera angles and were able to produce video clips with enhanced, state-of-the-art visualisation tools to highlight specific points.

UEFA said the aim of the report is to provide a meaningful tool for coaches across Europe.

“Its goal is to translate f indings from this Women’s EURO into actionable insights at all levels – from grassroots to elite – and, therefore, to impact positively on the continued development of footballers and their coaches across the continent,” says UEFA.

The data and key points identified range from analysis of the final stage matches to in-depth examination of how the teams set up, their styles of play and their strengths and weaknesses.

The 48-page technical analysis is broken down into six key areas: Goalscoring, Transitions in possession, Set plays, Fitness, Out of possession and Goalkeeping.

Ultimately goals win matches and the report highlights an unprecedented number of goals scored during the tournament – a total of 106 at a rate of 3.42 per game.

“The improved technical quality on display was matched by the impressive game understanding and fitness exhibited by players who met the demands, both in terms of in-game tactical changes and physical endurance, of a knockout stage rich in drama and intensity as five of the seven matches required extra time and three went all the way to penalties,” says the report.
